Based on the design of the targe, this Brass Riveted Scottish Targe recreates the look and feel of this traditional Highland shield, while also featuring a distinctive and iconic design that makes it quite the impressive sight to see, too. The targe was, traditionally, the shield preferred by most of the Highland warriors, and was often used in conjunction with a dirk or a broadsword (or both, depending on how the battle went). This particular targe is classically made, utilizing layers of fine wood that are wrapped in leather. The face of the shield features a central brass boss, around which are several different designs. Brass rivets and studs make up the designs, creating bright sunburst patterns around the shield, as well as distinctive shapes that could almost be reminiscent of highland warriors! The shield is a bit larger than the traditional targe, possessing a diameter of about 24 inches. A classic shield of the Highland warrior, this Brass Riveted Scottish Targe will serve well the Highland reenactor, both as a part of his (or her) authentic warrior look, as well as a good defense for mock-battles and more. And after the battle is done, it makes for a great piece of cultural history to have in your home collection, too.
